Preparation
for Trim
Proper preparation of trim will make all the difference in
the world! When you are re-painting the trim in your home
there are a few easy steps to follow to get the highest
quality results.
Begin preparation by wiping the trim down with Naptha or
similar product. Use a "glazing putty" to fill in any nail
holes or dips. Lightly sand over the entire door jamb,
window frame, or baseboard. Use a whisk broom or old paint
brush to "dust" it off. Then use caulk to fill in any
cracks along the mitred joints and around the entire frame
to the drywall. Then you are ready to apply the finish
coat. |
