Selecting Roller Covers Wisely

Careful selection of roller fabric materials assures a non-directional paint film. In either an up or down stroke, the final paint film will show no particular direction or texture. Inexpensive rollers, especially in semi-gloss paints, will frequently cause heavy "orange peel" in both directions. You will be able to see exactly where the roller has started and finished.

Painting tips & tricks of the day

Rolling. Dip your roller in the paint tray and then roll it back and forth on the ridged part of the tray. This squeezes out excess paint and evenly spreads the paint all the way around the roller.

When painting, start with diagonal or zigzag strokes to get the paint on the surface.

Then go back over the area with longer, up and down strokes to even out the surface.
