PROCEDURE FOR DOORS - HOW TO PAINT BASEBOARDS

PROCEDURE FOR DOORS

The best way to paint a door is to start at the top and work down. Paint the main part of the door with a 2 or 3 in (50 or 75 mm) brush.

PAINTING FLUSH DOORS
Start at the top of the door, working down in narrow horizontal bands, making sure that the adjoining edges blend well.

PAINTING PANELED DOORS
Paint the moldings first, then the panels, and then the frame, and finish off with the door opening.

HOW TO PAINT BASEBOARDS

Baseboards take a lot of abuse, so protect them with a durable finish such as oil-based paint. To protect the floor, lay down a strip of masking tape or slide a cardboard mask under the baseboard. To protect the wall, hold the cardboard mask on top of the baseboard. Paint with horizontal strokes using a 2 in (50 mm) brush. Apply a couple of coats of varnish.
