If you're thinking of
painting a room, why not consider a different paint
technique. It adds a lot of character and charm to a room.
Stippling is an easy technique and the results are
amazing. Here's how it's done. There are actually two ways
you can do this; you can stipple off, which means you
remove part of a second coat of paint or glaze, or stipple
on by dabbing a second color onto the wall.
Tape
off all baseboards, moldings and anything else you don't
want painted, this project can get a little messy.
Paint
the walls a base color and allow it to dry thoroughly.
It's best to use a light color for the base.
Choose a top color that is close to the base color, this
slight variation will give you a subtle textured effect.
Pour a little into a paint pan.
Using
a stippling brush, dab the ends into the paint. Blot the
brush on some paper towels. You don't want a lot of paint
on the brush because you want to see the brush strokes.
Apply
the paint onto the wall in a random in and out motion, as
if you were using a hammer. Work in small three to four
foot sections around the room. Make sure that you wipe the
brush frequently, so you get a nice even pattern. |
