Showerhead
Holes Are Clogged

Problem: Mineral deposits and
debris clog up small holes in showerhead.
Background: With use, holes in showerheads can become
plugged, causing water to shoot out un plugged holes with
extra force, resulting in an uncomfortable shower.
Sometimes showerheads become so clogged up that water is
released through only a few holes.
What to do: The showerhead may be replaced.
However, a good cleaning can restore the device’s original
performance. To unplug a showerhead, remove it, being
careful not to scratch its chrome surface by covering it
with masking tape, or by using a soft cloth in conjunction
with pliers or a pipe wrench. Soak the showerhead in a
container of vine gar to loosen the mineral deposits.
After soaking, clean out the holes with a toothpick and
hot, soapy water, and rinse.
Special advice: Check to make sure that all holes
are clear before rein stalling. On some showerheads you
may be able to hold them up to the light to see if all the
holes are open.
Helpful hint: If you
don’t want to, or can’t, remove the showerhead, fill a
plastic bag with vinegar and tie it over the showerhead to
loosen mineral deposits. Allow to soak over night and
repeat if needed. |
