Installing post-formed kitchen countertops
Installing kitchen countertops is quite an easy project for
most do-it-yourselfers. Your local home renovation centre
offer post-formed kitchen countertops with integrated
backsplash and a curved front edge. With precise
measurements in hand, you can purchase kitchen counters with
either flush or 45-degree mitred ends.
Replacing stratified materials
When replacing the laminate on kitchen counters, don't
remove the old one as you will then have to remove the glue,
a tough job. Instead, glue the new laminate onto the old
using contact glue applied to both surfaces. The results
will be excellent. To finish the edges, a file is often the
best tool to smooth the cuts made with a laminate knife.
Glueing stratified counter panels
To glue stratified panels on a counter, use a latex based
contact glue. It's odor free and water soluble to make
washing easier. Set down wood dowels or wood pieces to
position the panels in the right place. Remove them once the
panel's in position. |
