Installing a bathroom vanity
If you'd like to improve the look of your bathroom but aren't quite sure where to begin, installing a new vanity is a great place to start. This relatively simple project can be carried out in half a day and will decidedly improve the look of this very busy room.

Flush fitting without damage
When flush fitting a counter or any other piece or appliance in the kitchen or the bathroom, place stratified sheets, such as melamine, along the two side surfaces. The new counter will easily slide into its intended space between the thin sheets which will protect the wood or plasterboard surfaces.

Transforming melamine
You're sick of yellowed melamine furniture and counters? The color doesn't match your new decor and you don't really want to paint? Cover them with a thin layer of adhesive, real or simulated wood veneer that, in some cases, will need stain and at least three coats of varnish. The result is pleasing, durable and inexpensive.

Glueing stratified counter panels
To glue stratified panels on a counter, use a latex based contact glue. It's odor free and water soluble to make washing easier. Set down wood dowels or wood pieces to position the panels in the right place. Remove them once the panel's in position.
